New logo for LBK!

A few years ago we replaced the Dragon’s Dens logo from the 80s with a new modern logo. The old logo was very advanced with many different colors, shapes and details, while the new (current) logo took inspiration from the much simpler logos for LBK and LinCon.

After a few years with the new logo, thoughts began to arise about developing a new logo for LBK in the same style as Dragon’s Dens, in order to create a more unified profile for the association and more clearly connect the two branches of the club. Now these thoughts have become reality!

The logo still depicts an Orc (to tie in with the association’s name and history), but the head has changed profile and now sits on a die just like Dragon’s Den’s dragon. LBK has now also received red as an official color (two different shades) and an official font.

The new logo is also available in a single-color version for occasions where a multi-colored one may be impractical.

If you’re going to print something with LBK’s logo on it and need access to it in a suitable file format, contact styrelsen@dragonsden.se or Yabob on LBK’s Discord.

Status update from the gaming Association

After a long break due to Covid-19 the board game nights on Mondays has started again. Just like before the break, it is on Mondays at 6 p.m. The location is also the same, which means that we are located in Studiefrämjandet’s venue at Hunnebergsgatan 29.

And for those interested in miniature wargaming there is, as usual, a lot of activity in LBK’s miniature wargaming venue, with tournaments, campaigns and pick-up games.

Also, in conclusion, LinCon is now just under two months away. which means we soon have four days of unrestrained gaming ahead of us!

new year, new gaming venue for board games and role playing games

In December 2019 we were informed that us in Dragon’s Den and the other gaming associations in the Game Link collaboration could no longer remain in the venue on Platensgatan that we have been in since 2015. After receiving that information we have worked hard (relatively speaking) for to find a new venue. That work has borne fruit.

As of Monday week 5, the board game evenings (both Monday and Thursday) and the role playing evenings (Tuesdays) move into the renowned Skylten!

The new venue is located on Södra Oskarsgatan 3, just off Linköping’s Central Station (on the other side of the railway tracks). It is the building with the red neon sign with the text “konsten gör livet större än konsten”…. in other words difficult to miss. The easiest way to get there from the Central Station is to use the tunnels that pass below the railway tracks.

The move to the new venue obviously mean some changes and news. Firstly, we are now in a venue where other activities (for mixed ages) are also conducted in a completely different way than on Platensgatan. Expect new and interested faces. Our gaming nights here is open to anyone interested!

We no longer have a kitchen, but there is a staffed café that is open until 20:30 on the days we have our game nights.

Our game nights has a slightly larger room upstairs. This room serves as a base for our gaming. But you can also sit down and play in the cafe or other places on the first floor if there are vacant tables (it is even encouraged). However, keep in mind that the entire first floor closes at 20:30. There is also an area in the basement where you can sit and play there are vacant tables.

If there is no one from the association in place with a key, the staff of Skylten can also open.

Skylten’s website can be found here.

Well met in the new venue!

DefCon 2020

Tomorrow sees the start of the association’s annual tabletop wargaming convention, DefCon. The convention is in the C-building at Linköping University in corridor U and runs from 4-5 January. If you are interested in tabletop wargames then you are welcome to come by and have a look during the weekend.

This year we have tournaments in Warhammer 40k, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, Warmachine & amp; Hordes, 9th Age, and Dust.

Roleplaying evening 11/19

Roleplaying at GameLink

11/19 at 18:00

Platensgatan 25, Linköping

We run West marches DnD 5ed (oneshot).

For new and experienced players.

Create your own character lv 1 or pick up a finished one on site We have 2 game managers booked, but if we are many then it is good if someone more can imagine to line up. **************************************************

West Marches is a way to play role-playing games where you start and end the adventure, so-called “one shot” at every play. It is not a permanent group but anyone can join, only there is space, and several game managers can arrange adventures when it suits them. The world you play in will change based on the adventures you play, but every single adventure that is underway is isolated for the moment. One and the same player can also take part in two adventures, led by different Game Masters, at the same time, as long as they do not crash into playing time in our physical world.

Players may also suggest adventures they wish to perform to the Players. This can be a great way to get character development and for the Game Master to spin on new adventures.

The game leaders talk among themselves about what they intend to do so that adventure does not collide, and also note if something significant happened during their adventure affecting the world. This is so that the next adventure in the same area can be adjusted according to past events.

When an Game Master has an adventure ready, he announces his adventure and number of places at the appropriate place and in good time. First of all, with the rule that if a person has already played then people who have not played have priority. All registered ports in a waiting list in case anyone would jump off. Some adventures may be linked to past adventures (directly or indirectly) and may then “require” that a majority of the group or all be the same characters.

Similarly, the Game Masters may have decided on a larger event in the background that some adventures tie in with in order to get some campaign-like feeling that will become more and more apparent over time.

Meeting to start a role-playing section

Earlier this fall, we announced that we were planning to start a role-playing section and urged anyone interested to contact us. Now it’s finally time for a first meeting for anyone interested in discussing how such a section and its operations should look and function. And of course it is also an opportunity for all role-playing enthusiasts to meet!

The meeting will be held at Game Link’s venue on Platensgatan 25 in Linköping (in the basement) on Tuesday, November 12th starting at 18:00.

The board will be there and we will be providing fika.

If there are some who want to play something, then it goes well, but note that the association today has nothing role-playing- related that is newer than the 80’s or possibly early 90’s. So in other words, bring what you need if you want to play something.
